I personally still don't think we're getting any respect at all. Everyone was talking this way before we played NY, like we don't stand a chance. Now, everyone(besides one guy on ESPN and other Indians fans like myself) is writing us off again against Boston. It's amazing how a team that wins 96 games, wins the AL Central(best division is baseball), beats the "dreaded" NY Yankees in the first round, and still nobody gives us a chance. People need to wake up, this Indians team is for real. Our pitching matches right up with Boston's. Our hitters have been more successful against their pitchers(look up the numbers), than their hitters have been against ours. We lost all 6 to NY in the regular season, didn't matter, we beat them. We went 2-5 against Boston, and everyone is making a big deal about that. Well, look at what we did to NY, cause it's going to happen again...

i give the indians 100% of my respect 4 beating the yankees, although i think most people dont respect them. in my opinion, the BoSox will beat them in either 6 or 7, and they will face the rockies (who will win in 7). rockies beat redsox in 6

I know what you mean. Immediately after the game last night on TBS, instead of talking about the Indians winning, they talked about Joe Torre for like 8 minutes! But if it was the other way around and Wedge was gonna lose his job if the Indians lost in the post season, they would still be talking about the Yankees. We get no respect, I wonder what will happened if we win the World Series, will we still get no respect? Even back in the '90s when we had all those great hitters like Baerga and Belle, Thome and Ramirez we still were ignored. So you know what to do, watch the games but turn off the sound and crank up Tom Hamilton!

I watched ESPN's Baseball Tonight, we were referred to as those "pesky Indians"! C' mon the better team won!!!!

You're right. They never have. Between 1960 and 1985 their overall record was worse than the Cubs and they didn't even get lovable loser status. (That's why the people who made 'Major League' were geniuses to base the movie around the Indians.) Now all you read about in the media and even here on Y/A baseball is Yankees this and NY that.

The upside is that the Indians will win the World Series if karma has anything to do with it, and then, oh, one, two, maybe 3 people in the media will say something.

They deserve everyone's respect. Look at their pitching in that series! But not JUST that series, they should have had everyone's respect before. Why we they the underdogs? They were tied for the best record in baseball! Is that a bis accomplishment now? People sure were making a big deal about it with Boston...

I am so sick of peoples excuses for why the Indians "it was the bugs" "*insert team name* was off that night" They won because they are an amazing young team with pitching, speed, and offense in the entire lineup.

I am looking forward to seeing the best two teams in baseball go for the ALCS

I think it has to do with big time analysts "strategic" way of supporting the Yankees. First, they predict the Yankees will win. If they do, then hey hey they were right. If they don't, then the opposing team just got lucky and they'll likely get beat out the next round. If they are correct about round two, then good for them. If they're not, the luck continues. By the end if the "lucky" team has won it all then it creates a great story that just overshadows how the analysts did a piss poor job.

Lesson learned: Make your own opinions about teams rather than relying on "professional observations".

I am an Indians fan, and you are right. They will always have my respect, but the fact that almost everyone says they wouldnt get past NYY made me mad. Yea we went 0-6 to them in the season, but look at what we did. Now everyone's saying we wont get past Boston, thats a load. Statistically we are just as good and number one in post season rankings. And yea our pitching is definetly just as good, look at what Paul Byrd did yesterday.
I think the Indians can go all the way this year. The team is strong, swift, capable and powerful.

Well I look at it as, World Series opening Day. Cleveland Indians versus Arizona Diamond Heads. Lets hope this dosn't happen. There would be nobody watching except for the two cities involved. I hate Boston. Ok Go Cleveland. HA HA.

As a Yankee fan, my congrats to the Cleveland Indians who deserve & have earned my respect. They played hard & got hits when needed & pitchers who got batters out when it counted the most. I wish them well against the Red Sox & I am pulling for Indians to beat the Red Sox. Good luck to the Indians & once again congrats for beating my team. You see all Yankee fans aren't obnoxious & rude. I would like to see Indians win World Series & bring a title to the city of Cleveland

I think Cleavland deserves a huge congratulations. Sure, I am not a huge fan - GO TIGERS, but you guys have great pitching, and a pretty decent offensive team. I was cheering for the Indians against the Yanks, and I will be cheering for them against every other team they will be playing this post season. What you guys have done this year is amazing, there is no stopping the Indians!!

Im a born red sox fan and DO respect the tribe. The best thing about them is their running, they are aggressive base stealers which is something the sox are still lacking in. I love ellsbury but the fact is the sox either want hitting or pitching and if you can run that's extra. they still forget the only reason we won is because of Dave Roberts stealing third, or it would have ended that game. this is going to be a TIGHT, down and dirty series. both teams are good infield, cleaveland has it over us in the backfield any game Manny is playing ( does not run and dive to make a catch) and our pitching has the edge. our bats are the one superior edge. peace!

I agree 100%. Since last night, the headlines (everywhere but in Cleveland) have been about Torre. Or A-Rod. Or something Yankee losing instead of Indian winning. The TBS announcers were biased (so HA in their faces) and pretty much the rest of the world is/was.
It just comes to show that money isn't everything and that our ---rookies--are fantastic. GO TRIBE!
