the clitoris has the highest concentration of nerve endings anywhere in the human body. Even more so the the head of a male penis.
You risk possible nerve damage and/or losing sensitivity in that region.
Also, this is external genetalia and not far from the urethral opening. If you do decide to get this done, I would be extremely vigilant with personal hygenine as to not introduce bacterial infection to the area.

I know 3 women who've had this done and they love it. but it's not the clitoris that gets pierced. it is actually done above and behind the clitoris. You want to make sure that the clitoris DOES NOT get pierced.
Make sure that the piercers know what they are doing! GET REFERENCES from people that have had it done. Try contacting people in the BDSM circles. they know the good piercers.

Then, get a ball piercing (in a loop) and let that ball hang down on your clit. That is what those 3 women got.

They love it. Although I have to admit that I found it difficult to deal with when I was down on one of them. The damn thing kept getting in the way of my tongue.

Had mine done about 2 years ago. Love it, and haven't had one bit of trouble with it. You can get very different sensations/enjoyment with it. FYI, it would be unusual to have your actual clitoris pierced - typically the hood (skin above/covering the clitoris) is what is pierced. As with any body modification, good hygiene is a must.
**EDIT** And I haven't lost ANY sensitivity!! If anything, I think it is MORE sensitive. One of the keys is to change the jewelry style (ball, dangle, ring) frequently, so you don't become accustomed to the same sensation.

It is probably more correct to ask how dangerous is it to get the clitoris pierced. You want that thing to fall off?

Why in the world would anyone mess around with something so delicate, so important, as to take any chances with this organ! I don't care who says what, the minute you start playing around with punching holes in your body, there is a serious chance of nerve damage, and that particular nerve is one I would NOT take chances with. Although orgasm is a product of surface nerves, the ability to get "hard" is a product of only one nerve...damage that and you might have real problems in orgasm...don't be a fool for such trivial crap! I'd check with your doctor, both about the possibility of sensation loss and infection.

I sure as hell wouldn't do it. I am not going to ever risk anything bad happening to it. No risk - not even a .0000000000000000001 % chance.

Very dangerous. My toes have curled up and broken just thinking about it.
