We are looking for a mega-mall or cluster of malls with many unique stores with practical clothing, electronics, and other gift ideas. We are not interested in chain stores that are all over. Our Thanksgiving travels takes us from Chicago to East Coast. Any suggestions?

Northern New Jersey is probably the best place along the east coast. (Paramas, NJ or a town in that area is a good area to start)

There are three major malls all within about 2 miles of each other.
1. Garden State Plaza is the biggest. http://westfield.com/gardenstateplaza/index.html
----Plus right across the street there is an IKEA which is pretty cool....and plenty of stuff along the Rt17 highway.
2. Riverside Square (upscale stores like Tiffany's, Louis Vitton, etc.)
3. Paramus Park (smaller mall but has the general stores like Gap, Abercrombie, etc.)

Garden State mall is only about 20 minutes from downtown Manhattan...so you could always go shopping there.

About 30 minutes away is Woodbury Commons....one of the best places to go outlet shopping! Can always find good deals here:

King of Prussia baby! The King of Prussia mall is huge, not to mention all the other shops in the area. Are you familiar with it? It is is Pennsylvania outside of Philly. They have a website.
