This is not a true or false question, This is about your own belief system.
I tend to be skeptical about the lengths some people go with this idea, but i do think it is possible for the "world to come" to communicate with us through our dreams.
During our waking selves, our strongly rational minds do not allow any messages to get through. But when we sleep, no matter what or where you think dreams come from, (from deep inside subconscious or from the spiritual realm outside us) our rational mind is definitely not in the driver's seat anymore.
Some dreams, but surely not all, seem to impart special meaning, and may tell us about the future or warn us or give us hope.
Maybe it is your friend. Maybe the spiritual world wanted to send you a message in a form that was certain to be heard. whatever the truth is, we cannot be certain. You must decide for yourself what importance to give the dream.

I keep an open mind on these matters so yes anything is possible. But please keep in mind that people tend to dream about loved ones they have lost. i always dream about unresolved issues for instance. If I have car trouble sure enough I have some nightmare where I'm driving my Ka and it's falling to pieces. Or if I have a dental problem (not scared of dentists just very vain) I dream all my teeth are falling out. it's called dreaming about unfinished business.

But I do suppose that our loved ones can try to communicate with us through our dreams.

I have read in some New Age and occult books that the spirits of our deceased loved ones visit us in our dreams. I once had a dream in which I was a child again and I was happily playing on my swingset. There were two women in front of me who were sitting in lawn chairs. One of them was the elderly landlady of the apartment duplex where I lived when I was a kid. She died when I was about 9 years old. I don't know who the other woman was, though. I would like to think that they were visiting me from beyond the grave while I was sleeping.

It's far more likely that your unconscious mind conjures up the image out of wish fulfilment. Now you cna believe anything that strikes your fancy, or yuo can be scientific. Unless the experience is subjected to rigorous scientific testing, it cannot be concluded that it is real. I would like to see, jsut once, a dream visitation that imparts verifiable facts that the dreamer doesn't know. Like where to find a hidden fortune!

I think so. I once had a dream that I was walking in a hospital or somewhere like that, and went into a room, and sat on the bed , and my grandpa held my hand and said "I'm sorry we never told you we told you we loved you, because we do, and we are proud of you." I woke up then, and felt as though he was in the room.

I think so. I think they can come to you other ways also. When my grandfather died, my mother had just been married and was living out in the country with my dad and had no phone. She woke up in the middle of the night, and felt my grandfather in the room with her. He had come to tell her goodbye and that everything would be OK. When my uncle drove up to her house an hour later, to tell her that her father had died, she was dressed and waiting on him.

There is an afterlife, and I know this kind of thing happens!

Most certainly.
My Dad passed away about 5 years ago, but he often crops up in dreams to give me advice.
He is not really with us anymore, it is my brain pondering what he would have said.
Usually the notions are wise, so I must have learnt a lot from him, and now come to my own conclusions.

I think dreams are more than dreams... I think their a way of communication, or to show you stuff. I personally think that if you were close to someone, and they died that they could come to you in your dreams. My mom has had her brother come back to her, and also her father. And I have also had some of my dreams come true in real life, or close to it.

So I would say yes, it is possible.

Absolutely!

I understood it that your dreams were your sub conscious, the part of your mind that takes things in but doesn't necessarily process things until you're asleep.

Sparkles asked a Q recently and I said to her that when the sun is shining and my son and I are happy for no good reason, that's my grandparents saying hello.
