Do not wear jeans. I dont care if you're gonna be working at Spencers, its not professional. Closed toe shoes. No sneakers, or flip-flops. If you are interviewing at a clothing store, its always good to wear a piece of their clothing. Just make sure you look professional.
Speak clearly, and think about questions before you answer them. (I'd rather someone take the time to gather their thoughts, than stumble over themselves trying to figure out what they are trying to say while speaking). If you're nervous, say you're nervous, people are sympathetic.
At the end of the interview, definately thank the interviewer for their time and considering you for the position. Do not say "please hire me" or anything like that, sounds desperate. Just as effective is "i'm really looking forward to hearing back from you"
Now - this being your first interview, i'm assuming its your first job. Talk that up! Say that you're ready to join the work force, and how you think that particular company would fit your personality. You are open for training and suggestions that will help set a foundation for your future (They will ask you what your future plans are - its totally ok to say you havent decided yet) Most people are reluctant to hire people with no experience, but if you play yourself up someone willing to learn and easily molded... you have a good shot
Good luck!!

If at all possible wear a pants suit(black, navy or brown.) don't put on perfume before you go into the interview(the interviewer may be sensitive to it) if you smoke try not to do so shortly before(once again, it may bother the person interviewing you.) don't wear too much make-up, take out any piercings and cover any tattoos(just in case) don't just come out and say "please give me this job", list the reasons why they should give you the job, and your qualifications.
Good luck!!

I have a few good tips I've learned over the years. Wear your best shoes, but make sure they're closed toe. You don't want to wear sandals or flip-flops to a job interview. Also you want to end the meeting with "Thank You." And before you leave the office don't forget to say something like "Please pick me for the job." That shows you really want the job and you're really enthusiastic about it. And for most managers they make up their minds within five minutes after you've begun speaking. But that's most, some make up their mind when the interview is done. Just some tips I've learned. Good Luck!

the best & foremost thing is go relaxed in the interview & sit comfortably. wear smile always to the first person you meet to fix up the interview , to your other interview mates, enter with permision & sit comfortably...(not too comfortably like Basic Instinct)....Answer questions percisely not like the History answers which we was to pen down in our Board examination (specially CBSE students)....don't lie ,,,even if you lie make a point that you don't differ if asked from different angles

first impression is on how you look. Be professional and conservative. No tight or low cut or trendy. Clean and smelling fresh. Hair and nails clean. Make up minimal, jewlery tasteful, shoes polished, breath fresh. Smile, firm hand shake, have a confident attitude. After that its all about how you answer their questions and how your experience meets with their needs. Good luck and what ever you do leave your cell phone in the car!

Someone told me once that you should dress for the job that you want, not the job that you have. Go to your interview looking professional, but don't over dress. (ie. wearing a suit to a McDonalds interview).
