I see no downside. Self-control is unappreciated in this era. Hence Lady of the Grass's quote: "what's right is what's comfortable." Yikes! Anyone else see a problem here??

Do you? It's for each person to decide, if it's what they want then so be it. Why do you want to be abstinent? Sex can cloud issues in a relationship and prevent you from seeing a person for who they truly are. It can also appear to bring to people closer. But I truly believe that if your at a place where you asking the question then you should probably stay abstinent until it's not an issue anymore.

Abstinence is a good idea, but you must give people other options... You have to teach them about safe sex and not just give them the "Abstinence is the only way" speech....

Personally, I am a married woman so, no.
To each their own. I can't say that abstinence is good or not for the next person. It's not my business.

Yes, only sure way to avoid pregnancy and certain STDs. Realistically it won't happen. Raging hormones among the young especially often overcome common sense and abstinence. Use protection and hope for the best.

ithink that whatever you think is a good idea is a good idea, to a certain extent, if you think abstinence is for you then be abstinent. i have many friends who are. if you dont then dont. i dont want to be abstinent so im not but that doesnt mean that i think that is necessarily right for anyone else. what's right is what's comfortable.

I don't think it can be judged as being good or bad since it is a personal decision.

I do not practice abstinence, btw.

It can be in certain situations. That's a very personal choice. Sometimes its a good idea to give yourself a chance to get yourself mentally centered again.

I assume you mean until marriage and not permanently. In which case, yes I think it is a very good idea. I am waiting for marriage.
