I read the novel and watched the movie twice around 1975-1978 and found that there were some adaptations in the film which is, I think, quite normal and practical regarding turning any novel into the movie. To be fair with the producers, they did their best to conform to the main theme and major characters and, surprisingly, there was at least a remarkable scene (narrated indirectly in the novel) depicting a girl of the Brodie's set as a model sitting serenely like a nymph while her arts male teacher was drawing her beauty on a canvass. However, they were professionals and later some friends joined them in the room. It was a good film, you should enjoy it.

It's actually a play, not a book. The movie is fairly similar.
