NO!!!!!!
Besides there has been proof that there is no benefit in torture. The information is questionable and it affects the reputation of the country that does it.

In extremely rare circumstances as a last resort. It should be clear that only the most dire and desperate circumstances should be required, and that the person should be so guilty as to be convicted for offenses in a court of law (so that we aren't wasting time with the wrong people). Nicer avenues should be taken first to attempt to console and comfort people. Many of the Al Qaeda 'soldiers' may have been brainwashed or have misconceptions of Americans. These are good opportunities to set these people straight by example. A happy prisoner is more likely to give accurate information if they feel what they are doing is right. Getting them to feel that way is the tricky part.

As a tool of investigation??? Not for a common criminal but for international terrorists certainly. I say yes because the left's definition of terrorism wouldnt have even qualified as hazing 15 yrs ago. Real torture probably not but we dont do it so it is a mute point.

Absolutely Not !!
Information derived from torture is unreliable to begin with --- and, add to this the FACT that --- there are certain behaviors that make one No Better than the people they are interrogating !!
It's either YOU HAVE ETHICS or YOU DON'T !!

This belief, however, will Never stop the use OF it --- for the ones that are into this sort of thing --- will use it --- no matter what --- any time that they can ----- They are simply MADE that way !! Most LOVE their job !!

Greetings. depends. if one is a sadist then torture would be fun. If one were a intelligent human being then the answer would be certainly not. torture is for pleasure for those mental cases that enjoy giving pain, not for getting answers to anything. I question you with torture and you will confess to anything I tell you to. if you don't I simply continue with my legal torture of nearly killing you, then reviving you to repeat it over and over. When I was young we were told that the communists did things like that and that was why we had to fight and kill them. they were not humans but sub humans and now? We do it and even ask if it is a good idea or should we torture more strenously? What country am i in?

Absolutely not. We as Americans define ourselves by our freedoms and our civil rights and torture definite violates that. If we resort to torture then we will become no better as a people then the brutal regimes that use them to excess.

tourture is only effective if fully committed. if you are only able to use a certain level of tourture, than the suspect will know there is a limit. they wont give. so it will not be an effective tool. so in that case, i would say no.

however, if the tourture had only one limit: death, then i would say yes. the suspect would have no hope, and therefore would be much more open to giving information to make it stop.

It is a sign of intellectual laziness to resort to the use of physical torture on subjects.

Smart interrogators know how to trick or otherwise use intelligent techinques in order to get their subject to speak up and tell them what they want, instead of resorting to physical violence.

No way. I believe there are some other option that people could pick to gain informations. a smarter and more intellectual person could gain information using their brain and tactics, not violence's.
beside I dont believe violence could solved problems. it just created more problems...

Torture is a poor way to elicit information. If you torture me, I'll admit to killing Abraham Lincoln.
