the starters in those last a really long time ,id take it to auto zone and let them check this,i would think its the battery failing in it,i own one with a lot more miles than that and have never had to replace the starter, but have put two battery's in it,they can check this for you though ,and it will save you some money, good luck with it.

Yeah, it doesn't help when you get two different answers for the same problem. My experience says to go with what the dealer says as they usually have the best equipment to test as well as the most experienced guys using it. Batteries normally last around five years or so. We use a complete AVR test to determine what is wrong as well as a battery tester that even detects low charge in the battery instead of condemning them straightaway. Starters don't generally go to much anymore.

IF U HAVE A BATTERY THAT HAS REMOVEABLE CAPS ON TOP YOU CAN CHECK THE VOLTAGE OF EACH CELL INDIVIGALY WITH A MULTIMETER .PULL THE CAPS OFF TURN METR TO DC VOLTAGE SETTING.PLACE BLACK(GRD} ON NEG POST AND DIP RED WIRE (POS) INTO EACH CELL .SEE IF ANY ONE CELL(S) IS ALOT LOWER THAN THE OTHERS, LET BATT SIT FOR AN HR AND CHECK AGAIN SEE IF THERE WAS ANY CHANGE IN VOLTAGE.HOW EVER MY EXP IS THAT WHEN A STARTER GOS BAD ITS BAD. IT ETHER WORKS OR IT DONT WORK. I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ONCE AND IT TURNED OUT TO BE THE POS CABLE BETWEEN THE BATT AN STARTER IF YER CAR IS OILLY UNDER THE HOOD OR THE CABLE IS CLOSE TO THE EXAUST (HEADERS,ECT) IF THE WIRE FEELS SOFT AND NOT STIFF IT COULD LOSE ITS CONDUCTIVITY .I HAD MY STARTER IN AND OUT APART TOGATHER BATTERY ON CHARGER JUMP START STARTER APART AGAIN ECT.. TILL I FINALLY I FIGURED OUT IT WAS A WEEK CABLE

ok turn the car on......and disconnect the positive side of the battery.......if u feel that the care starts to vibrate when u push the gas padel then its the altinater if its fine it might be the battery. ........if not have a question when was the last time u changed to spark plug that might cause it to not start. ....one more thing u can check is make sure the positive and negative are secured tightly.....good luck

I have a money saver for you, your car is old enough to need a new battery, replace it, the shop will charge you the price of the battery to tell you that, go one from there, be happy

if your starter is going it will drain your battery. so ask to have your battery checked, they can see if you need a new one. if you don't then you need to have the starter checked they do that too (maybe not at the dealer though.)

Have your battery load tested at Napa auto parts. They will know.If your starter has never failed,it could be going out as well.

well I would go to Auto Zone and have them look at it.But from my Experience if your Starter is going out it will make a strange noise and be hard to turn over ,Batteries usually die and ,Sometimes you can charge them back but that is a temporary fix.
