Ok..I went to my doc for my routine visit, after exam, the doc
told me that my baby is breech and recommended an emergency c-section. 2 days later I went into the
hospital for contractions and found out that the baby is NOT breech.....is it possible for the baby to turn around in as little as 2 days or was the doctor just wrong and ordered a c-section
for no apparent reason....
The hospital told me everything was fine and things should proceed naturally...

Confused...

It is absolutely possible the baby turned. If the baby is properly engaged, just have a baby. If the baby is breech, follow your Dr.'s orders.

I doubt the doctor was wrong, but some doctors are less experienced in reading ultrasounds than others. Seems odd, but i found it to be very true. Babies do move a lot, and can flip over in an hour if they feel like it. My son practically did somersaults! They were always checking, and I ended up being able to deliver. My only question would be about the "emergency" part. From my understanding, a c-section would be in order for a breech baby, but only if there was distress to the baby or you would the c-section be an emergency.

Actually, yes. It is true that within the last few days of pregnancy, the baby turns. This means that he/she is getting ready to come into this world. A sign that labor is on it's way! The baby stays into the "breech" position until just before being delivered, in many cases. Some babies may do it sooner, but it's more common for them to decend right on time. Sometimes, the baby will be "breech", and a woman's body will begin the labor process, although the baby isn't quite "ready". Sometimes, the baby sets their own agenda. Lol. In your case, it's probably just a sign that the labor process is ready to begin. Keep a feel for contractions, and pay attention to early labor signs. It'll happen real soon. For the doctor, he was trained to prepare for any situation. He probably ordered the emergency c-section, "just in case". This is what any doctor needs to do. Don't worry about it, if you've got a good doctor, preparing for anything to happen, you're in good hands. Good luck!

Yes it is very possible for the baby to turn...if he/she had the room. My baby was breech also but we did an ultrsound to make sure before we schedule the c-section. Yes it is very possible. So dont think that he was just doing a C to do it. He was just looking out for you and the baby. IF he/she was breech it is alot of hard work trying to deliver and or turn. And then still have a chance of a c-section.

I know when I was in the last 2-3 weeks of my pregnancy that I always had discharge. I ended up wearing panty liners because it was annoying! As far as it not being your water breaking don't be looking for one big gush. I've heard that only happens with a small percentage of women(it's not always like the movies). For the majority it starts as a trickle and will sometimes increase with movement. It very well may be discharge though. Your water is going to have a sweet, bleachy, smell to it. If you're overly concerned call up your doctor or go to the hospital. They can administer a test to see if it's your water or just discharge. In any case it shouldn't be too much longer now. Best of luck.

Oy! Yes, baby can shift! And good god don't get a C/S for it - esp an emergency one.

You don't have to have a c/s with a breech!! If it were me, I'd try like hell to find someone to deliver a breech naturally - there are doctors out there and also midwives (which I prefer). To find one, check with the organization ICAN (International Cesarean Awareness Network) http://ican-online.net/
C/s are major abdominal surgeries, and carry with them great risks. Plus, it is difficult to find a doctor to do a vaginal birth after having a c/s (though not impossible).

Doctors started recommending c/s for breeches to avoid litigation. Did you know that famous midwife Ina May Gaskin delivered hundreds of breeches naturally, with no problem, at her birth center? There is actually a maneuver called the Gaskin maneuver that Obs and midwives learn as to how to deliver a breech?

Other things that can be done to get baby to turn:
acupuncture - amazing!
sitting/standing upside down
an external version - a procedure done by an ob

try anything you can to avoid a c/s - but the best thing you can do is try to find someone to deliver you that won't c/s.

Good luck!

The baby can move around that far in 2 days but it is best to get the surgery on the calendar asap especially if you are that close to your due date. If you were 38 weeks, they would have brought you back the next week for a sono to check baby's position because the closer it is to delivery time, the baby can move into position and get ready to come out. Your doctor did not misdiagnose-Congratulations on not having to have the C-Section!

Yes, the baby can turn around. I did with my mother while she was in active labor with me. My mother had to have an emergency c-section with me. And since I did that my mother decided not to have anymore children after that. She was going to give me a little brother or sister closer to my age than my older siblings. My big sister is twelve years older than me. At that time, that was a shock to people, but not anymore.

Good Luck!!

Oh gosh, babies can turn every which'a way in there, and quiet quickly too.

If you're worried, you should go back to the doctor (or perhaps a new doctor, just for a different point of view) to see if the diagnosis was correct or not.

Much luck!

with my own experience with my second born, on my 36th week, my OB told me that the baby is in breech, but she told me too that there's nothing to be worry about, because as long as i know that i'm not stressing out myself and the baby, then the baby will just be in it's right position on the right time. i just need to calm myself and don't forget to talk to the baby. tell the baby that i will do my best to be the best mom for him but i will need his cooperation because i don't want to lose him.

just pray that you two will be okay on your special day.

don't worry, everything will be alright.
