Native Americans migrated from Asia --- all is fair in war.

We came, we saw, we conquered. We didn't steal anything. Sure, we may have used cheap tactics - but we still won.

Why do so many contine to say that we stole this land? This world has many conquered nations --- which means that they killed Natives of that territory as well.

Spoken like a true "Ugly American".

War is never fair. Atrocities committed in the conquest of one people over another for land and resources are not excused by 'winning'. Not to mention that the legacy of the conquest continues to do harm to people today.

True, it is done, and the descendants of the more recent immigrants to the Americas are not going to give it all back to the descendants of the earlier inhabitants.

But understanding the past is the only way to prevent it again in the future.

But what about the future? Would you feel the same if your home, your land, your culture was invaded by a foreigner and taken from you? How long would you hold the grudge? I mean if you are from the south have you forgiven Abe Lincoln for his "War against States Rights"?

It seems to me it is White liberals who care about this more than the actual American Indians. Which is what most of them want to be called, not Native Americans. And every time a sports team is sued over an Indian related mascot it is usually an Indian nation that helps defend keeping that mascot.

The Haves always have guilt. The have nots don't care and don't need or want the Haves help.

Excuses excuses excuses...

No matter what, it doesn't change the damage that was done, culturally, physically, emotionally.

People can't just "get over" things that are so awful.

Yes, humans worldwide have been pretty brutal to our own species, but that doesn't make it alright. I believe there are reasons why we have grown in the area of compassion, have looked back and seen what our ancestors did, but some people still need to catch up with the rest of us in that line of thought.

And I think you are just trying to not feel guilty by finding a reason to feel it was ok to do.

We did steal it. We killed 10,000,000 native North and South Americans.

People don't realize the economic value of the free land and labor we captured in America and its effect on our growth. If we actually had to compete on a level playing field in the global economy at the time, history could have unfolded much differently.

They are taking advantage, why not it's not like we don't have enough going on right? this country is losing a hold of all that we hold dear, and other nations, like the ones here in the U.S like the indians, want their piece of the action, they feel left out, so kick us while we're down isn't that how they have always been.

Uh, the natives weren't looking to pick a fight with us. They had no problem sharing the land, in most cases. It was the colonists here that ignored them, destroyed land, chopped down forests and built towns. And to top it off, any natives that didn't like this were probably killed. They got them drunk and took advantage of them. Their was rape and murder. You paint an awfully rosy picture of the atrocities we committed against the native people here. Those people didn't even have guns to fight with in the early years.

Everyone has been conquered at one point or another. Even Native Americans lost their original lands to other stronger tribes long before Europeans arrived.

The only reason the people want us to remember the past is so it don't come back and bite us in the butt... They want us to learn from our mistake the first time so we don't have to make the mistake again... Too bad that we already have been makin them... Soon we'll have a king or queen again... Like if they elect hilary clinton, she'll want to be the queen of the US and then that is a huge mistake...
