Like it or not, it is an extended phenotype. Which means, the beavers that are the fittest survive in part due to being damn good at dam building. Genes that contribute to good dam building are then passed on in the same way as genes for big teeth.

enable's supply it a hypothetical pass. Beavers, fat and slow on land, can no longer climb timber, and have gripping front paws that may no longer dig burrows, no longer too sturdy at handling quickly flowing water. the place could the superb place a beaver could desire to stay? A small pond, close to to the shore say a mat of reeds the place it could desire to take its food to consume in protection. What food, oh sticks and small logs so it could strip the bark from them. So the proto beaver that has progressed the habit of taking and storing its food out in a pond could have a survival benefit over the uncovered proto beaver who continues to be on the mainland will it, sure it is going to. So those proto beavers could have a breeding benefit over the predated shore dwellers then, sure they're going to. What takes place while there are too many beavers for the ponds. Oh, they're going to ought to circulate into much less helpful websites like streams. yet does no longer streams wash their saved logs and sticks away, sure it could purely those that had found out to restoration and interlock the sticks and logs could flourish. etc etc, toddler steps over tens of millions of years gave the beavers their behavior, those that accompanied the superb direction in the direction of growing to be the superb circumstances thrived, people who did no longer died out. actual beavers are a sturdy genetic occasion of evolution simply by fact there are North American and ecu species. they are little question from the comparable difficulty-unfastened inventory, yet there have built up too many genetic differences to effectively breed jointly over the tens of millions of years they have been geographically separated. in addition they have actual ameliorations which will purely improve over the years.

Yes they could, but they're just like most people. They have to work at their jobs at the construction city, then come home and be yelled at and harrassed by Mrs. beaver and the beaverlings.
