You are 100% correct. While Christians can be somewhat annoying to non-Christians, I do not remember any laws being created that forced their views on other people. In fact, before the Supremes woke up one morning in 1961 and decided that ever since the Constitution was signed in 1787 we were not supposed to be praying in schools (oops!), all school prayers did not mention Jesus Christ only God so any religion would be able to pray them.
However, the ACLU and the Atheists use law and court decisions to MANDATE that we follow their views.
You know what I think the courts should have decided? Everyone should be allowed to say a prayer in school and then say nothing for 30 seconds in honor of the Atheists. At Christmas, Towns should put up a large box with a Christian Nativity Scene in it, another with a Menorah candle, a third with the Muslim Crescent and a fourth with nothing in it for the Atheists. Wouldn't that be fairer than forcing the Atheist view of Christmas on everyone?

Wow, way to repeat too much. You must like the words secular, atheist, and liberal way too much. I suggest a thesaurus, that could help. And FYI, not all Liberals are these things. I believe in the same God you do. I believe that government should be secular (if you think otherwise, this is the wrong country for you). And everyone in politics is progressive. You don't hear any politician say "I want to regress and send us back to 100 years ago." No politician says that. They all want to move forward. And to say that Liberals are "amoralistic"... Well thats just laughable... You honestly believe that Liberals have no morals whatsoever...? Are you on Yahoo Answers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week? You should really get out more and discover that these "Liberals" you talk about are nothing like the "Liberals" in real life...

As a Christian you proportion with the Catholic and the Jew a faith. First The Catholic is the bridge between the Christian and the Jew. The Bible, the Holy word of God, has the previous testomony this is the Torah, the Jewish Bible, it became into given to the persons via the Catholic Church yet translated via Luther. in case you do not have self belief me ask a preacher. As for the Muslims they understand relating to the Jews and the Christians yet say they're incorrect interior the way they pray to God or Allah. As for the Atheist they have not got self belief in God till confronted with loss of existence, a asserting interior the army "there are no longer any atheist in a fox hollow!" As for the pagans so a ways as i understand the have self belief in lots of gods.

Sorry I could not answer this sooner but I was hiding from the evangelical atheist rock worshipers that were ringing my door bell. Religion is an intensely personal experience and should stay that way. Your relationship with God is uniquely your own and no one should force their views on you. That being said, I must have missed the atheist preacher on TV last night begging for money so I could receive countless blessings in return but Pat Robertson is doing a fine job scamming people into emptying their pockets to line his. Stop using religion as a political platform to force your views on others. Go to church, pray, help the poor by donating your time. Those actions go farther and do more good than sitting behind a computer spewing rhetoric.

Are you serious? You think the atheist's are the only ones forcing their views on society? The message in the bible (it doesn't matter which one you read, they all say it) is to go forth and spread God's word. All religions do this. You cannot talk about mainstream Christian America and avoid talking about pushing their views on others. It is what people who have faith do. They want others to believe. By the way, I am an active LIBERAL Christian!

I don't see that "secular "progressive" atheist liberals forcing their amoralistic views on the rest of the country".
I think however that atheists and many religious people are opposed to the government being entangled with religion.
I hear this charge all the time, yet no one can give me one real example of "secular "progressive" atheist liberals forcing their amoralistic views on the rest of the country"
No one is behind law that "require" any one to be amoralistic. Many people support repealing laws that require people to observe particular religions or live by the morals of others.
As an example, many states used to have a religious test for public office. This is clearly a violation of the first amendment.

Would you like some cheese to go with that whine.
The fact is that America was not founded as a christian nation and therefore it is the christians who have and continue to try to force their views on mainstream America.

Atheists are not asking that anyone be taught or forced to participate in activities that denounce their beliefs. Atheists are not trying to force people to become atheists.
They only ask that our Constitutionally secular government not be used to further anyone's particular religious agenda.
They are being true Americans, moreso than those who think they have the right to use our government to lead in activities that are best left for people to do on their own.

Christians confuse religious dogma like no sex without marriage, homosexuality is evil etc... with the term "morality". If you define immorality as those actions which bring suffering to others, you will find that liberal secularists are not trying to enforce any type of immorality. Quite the contrary. You will find that the religious dogma is more immoral and brings more suffering to more people than atheism. Stem cell research is a perfect example. Christian dogma is blocking research which could ameliorate the suffering of mimllions of people. *This* is immoral.

Why do you say that secular progressive atheist liberals are amoral? Just because someone doesn't subscribe to your religious beliefs does not mean they don't have morals. Morals don't come from religion.
And atheists aren't trying to force America to be atheist. They just want to ensure that the government remains secular. Meanwhile, you see Christians trying to restore school prayer, force ID into schools, put the ten commandments up in public places, etc etc. What does that look like to you?
