How about another quote:

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." ---C.S. Lewis

Remind you of any government you know?

Another Great Quote Suthrnlyts!
I always thought that we know best, what's good for our own well-being. I thought that self-determination was what made America such a great country,..but somewhere along the line, some politico decided that they knew what was best for us. That's Sad, and that kind of thinking has no place in a true democracy, much like the Electoral College !

I didn't know Lewis knew Hillary, because she torments us without end and believes she is doing us all good. Lewis was a very smart man, and I like the fact that you read him, tells us a lot about you. One would conclude that you are a wise woman.

(Not looking for "best answer", so don't give it to me, I was just making an honest assessment.)

He's describing bad government? Oh, it must be Republicans. Hands down. Without a doubt. I'm sure of it. Sounds more like Iran or Iraq under Saddam to me than our government.

I don't know C.S. Lewis, so can't say that I love him.

But I do enjoy his writing.

Next question.
