There are more young mothers now than there were three years ago. I mean young as in NOT EVEN 18YRS OLD!!!!!!! There is an old saying that holds true throughout time. " Just because you CAN have children, DOES NOT mean that you should." I mean, how immature are these people today?

I'm NOT talking about adults having children, I'm addressing the people that haven't even VOTED in an election outside of High School. Don't they even understand the grand importance of concieving a child much less dedicating yourself to that child for the next 23years! THIS is NOT the world of some rich, ignorant, slut, that seems to think that because they have money that they can do what ever they want and suffer no ill effects. I'm talking about another human life!!!!!!

It is not so much the child to blame. I say if the parents educated their children better this would not be happening. I ask myself "Where are the mothers of these young girls?".
Some will argue that they have to work to support the children. That's fine and all but they can still instill principles in the child's head. They can describe the kind of life they would have if they were to have a child. They can show them how hard it is to raise children by them selves. We all want better for our children and in order to achieve that we have to set the example. I am a single mother of two boys ages 16 and 6. Its no picnic to raise them alone but it is my responsibility to do so. My 16 year old is so well mannered. I get compliments on his mannerism all the time. He sees my every day struggle and pitches in to help. I have showed him how to conduct him self in public and have read the Bible to him. To this day never once has he gone and got him self in any kind of trouble. He is a Junior in High School and stands at 6'2". He does not even talk back to me and if you are a parent you know how rare that is.
It can be done...I am living proof!
Faith is a big deal in my house hold. God has never let me down. My boys are my responsibility and I mean to keep that job to the end!

I agree with your saying 100%. In my opinion, society has now made it easier for young women to have kids. We have schools that have day care while the moms are getting their education(I can't knock this) we have welfare that supports them. Some parents take care of their grandkids while their child keeps having more kids. I would think at this day and age when there are so many forms of birth control, that are free at most local health dept., that as parents we need to educate our children, on the value of a good education first. How can you support someone else when you support yourself. I was 18 when I had my first child and life wasn't easy. Now i have a 20 y.o. that is in college with NO kids and a 16y.o that is still a virgin. As a parent it is my responsibility to teach my girls morals, values and responsibility. Education is #1 on my list of priorities. I wan't my girls to have a better life than I did and school education and "ways of life " education is my way to insure that I they will accomplish their goals in life. By the way, I am a single mom with no help from "the dad" and i think i have done a pretty damn good job so far if I say so myself.

I don't know...it's just little girls wanting a dolly to love them...no idea what it takes in the world to raise a child to adulthood. It's sad that they are not using that time to get an education and set their lives up so they can be self reliant and have a good life in the future. All they think of is sex and boozing and then whammo, bambino on the way.
Glad my kids have higher ambitions.
As for older mothers? They've likely paid off their houses and can afford their children lives of luxury. Much more to offer than a child can offer another child.
And ditto on whoever said a child is an accessory. That's all they are to these moms who gladly leave them unattended so they can go party with their friends at night.

As a former teenage mother, I know what you're saying.
It's because people make having babies look trendy. You see your favorite celebrity getting pregnant and buying her baby all kinds of cute baby clothes and accessories- it's like a new doll.
People should teach safe sex, not abstinence, because teenagers will NEVER listen to their parents about staying virgins. But at the same time, they need to go into full detail- sleepless nights, emergency room at 2 am, colic, your friends ditching you, etc. when they talk about teen pregnancy. Not just "Oh it's hard, but there's always welfare." Girls don't understand the full impact that becoming a mother has on you until too late. People need to stop making babies into accessories. That's the problem.

That's the world today, sex, sex, and more sex. Look at TV, movies, or just walk down the street and you will see young girls (under 18) that look like ho's. Their parents let them go out looking like street walkers and don't say a word. No wonder so many are getting pregnant. Before girls were ashamed to be an unwed mother, now they don't care.
It all starts with the family, and some family's don't care. Yes i know some do it just to get out of the house, because in most states, once you give birth you get government assistance. The others do it because they think they are in love and once the get pregnant, they find out the guy was only looking for sex, not a family and he will move on because he doesn't want to be tied down.

Ignorance begat ignorance.
The problem with today's youth it they are undisciplined. They just keep passing child abuse laws but it's to the point where children now are illmannered and disrespectful to unlimited levels. They mouth off, they are violent, and they insist that they ARE adults simply because their hormones say so.
I'll admit I knew more at 15 than I do at 29. I'd like to go back just to knock myself around a bit. When I decided at 15 that I was ready for a baby, my mom made me babysit. It cured me real fast.
Teenagers have a point to prove but I see the girl next door (16yrs old) slamming her baby(2yrs old) around FOR NO REASON AT ALL, I saw her the other day slam her in her head with her palm and the kid didn't even react - so what kind of a person do you think that child will grow into? That kid doesn't stand a chance at being any more "grown up" than it's own parent was while raising her.
We look up to our parents and we follow in their footsteps. I consider myself a respectable woman and have every intention of grooming my children with dignity and to have self-respect just the same. There are other means of discipline than 'hitting' a child.

Children seem to be getting more freedom these days. Parents really don't seen to care anymore. For instance... My exs parents let their 16 year old daughters boyfriend stay the night with her. He stayed countless times and they slept in her room! And her best friend just had a baby and she's only 15. Parents just aren't teaching their kids how important abstinance is or about morality. I guess they expect schools to do it for them

Nannies are needed for the working mothers out there. The teens gladly take the jobs. The mothers of these babies and toddlers are actually in their 30s, 40s, & even in their 50s! They have a best friend with a teenage daughter and this is what you see: a teenage girl with a baby & toddler in tow.

Well, turn on the tv set. turn on the radio. Listen/Watch some of the things that these kids are listening to and seeing on the television & radio. Children are being programmed to have sex and to not fear or think about the consequences of sex. Some of these young mothers may be victims of insufficient parenting and they will continue to create a cycle (of bad parenting) therafter.. ::Sad::
talk to your children about sex, sexually transmitted diseases, drugs, drinking. . .etc .. etc.. its not taboo anymore its all over the place..
