The effectiveness rate of the IUD is about 98/99 percent. So women do still get pregnant with them in place, though it's not common.

However, you should be aware that having an IUD puts you at a higher risk for ectopic pregnancy and/or other pregnancy complications if you do conceive.

Have you considered natural forms of birth control? NFP is very effective - studies show it has a 99% success rate, which is just as good, if not better than, the IUD>

If you happened to have conceived right before it was put in, odds are that the newly placed IUD would have been causing a mild inflammatory reaction within the uterus which would prevent implantation or would have interfered with the pregnancy. Did you have period before it was put in, or not?

I wouldn't worry unless you're really symptomatic. Take a test. Surely you'd test positive by now if you thought you got pregnant before or right around the time it was put in - two months ago.

I've had my 10 year for going on 8 years, and have had no problems with it at all. IUDs are supposed to be nearly as effective as the pill, being 98-99% effective.

I've had the IUD in since i had my daughter in 2005 and it seems to work great....me and my huddy have sex alot and i havent gotten pregnant yet. It does make you period ALOT heavyer and i have worse cramps but thats it.

Now I was told IF you do get pregnant that the baby wouldnt beable to servive....sounds real bad but thats what i heard.
