William(Bill) Cody went around killing Buffalo so the Native Americans(Indians) would starve. The White man celebrated this by nicknaming him "Buffalo" Bill. Eventually he was able to make peace with the Native Americans and would probably find it somewhat offensive that they are using his name like that, but then again Washington D.C. uses the nickname the Redskins so who would care? Anyway the people of Buffalo aren't very bright when it comes to sports, they forget that Buffalo is the NAME OF THE CITY not the team. Imagine if Washington thought that, they would probably be using a Washing Machine as a logo or something. The Bills and the Sabres both think that the CITY name of BUFFALO is the team name.
