Journeyman is ok, but seems to be missing a lot. The main problem with the concept is that you KNOW he's going to help the person he's supposed to by the end of the hour. I'd like to see him struggle and perhaps NOT help someone in one episode, thus firing him up for the next one (which at the same time, makes us more interested in what happens in the next episode.)
In addition, they've elected to have no one know about this, even his wife, who supports him (barely) even though she has very little experience with it. And let's not forget the constant showing up of the dead wife, which they have yet to explain.
The show has been done before (Quantum Leap, Time Tunnel, Voyager) and done better. The actor seems a bit wooden, or perhaps they need to do more with the motivation of the character. So far he's just bumbling around. He needs direction, he needs support and he needs to be better at this.
Prime example: He takes off his shoes and suddenly feels that feeling of slipping into the 'time vortex' (or whatever you want to call it) Why doesn't he grab his shoes? It's just a plot point and a poor plot point because they do nothing with it. Being shoe-less has nothing to do with the story, so it makes no sense for him to do that. The writers are clutching at straws to make the character less than perfect, but are instead making him unreal.
In addition, he seems to be unable to get his work done on time, and thus we wonder how he's able to keep his job. Overall the show needs some retooling, or at the very least a better and quicker paced telling of the weekly story. Too much time is spent in he and his wife staring at eachother while he insists he's not doing anything and she's stonily trying to keep her cool.

I was a huge QL fan and was hoping that Journeyman would be as good...it's not. I was excited that there was going to be another good prime time drama that didn't have anything to do with Lawyers or Hospitals. I don't think the main character (Dan) is good for the role (sorry if you're reading this). I get tired of the 'look' his wife gives him all the time. I watched the first episode and completely lost interest. I gave it a second try and just don't find it's any good. The premise is excellent but the final product is not. The show is completely lack luster especially on the heels of Heroes. It won't last a whole season.

I'm not sure it's going to make it - there's just so many things that don't make sense .... the 'coming off as a loser' to his boss, family etc. is just so negative and so distracting. Also the tension between his wife and his former fiancee and his wife and his brother....... I feel so bad for the poor guy........ they should have had an outcome from the pilot under which at least his job was secure (first guy he saved gave him a job, or he got a job doing short bios of the saved people or something like that). And all the relationships are so messed up. How does he even keep track of who he's with?
This issue of trying to balance a sci-fi story with a set of troubled relationships reminds me a little of the story last year (year before?) about the alien invasion in the little town in South Florida - except in that case, the people's relationships were so interesting that the alien invasion was the distraction..... I'm not sure that these combined soap opera/sci fi things work!

The show is good, but not great. To many questions that have not even been touched on, such as:
1. Who is behind this?
2. What is this?
3. Why Him?
4. What part does his girlfriend play?
5. How does it work?
I loved Quatum Leap and we knew what role and how it started.

I'm a huge sci-fi fan, so I really wanted to love it, but alas, I don't. I tried watching it twice, but ended up cancelling it off my DVR to record any further episodes. I agree alot with the opinions of poster #1. For those who do like it, I hope they don't cancel it.
The new show that I was really suprised about was Reaper, which totally rocks! (I thought it would be a dud)

I was a huge Quantum Leap fan, and this show seems like a rip-off of QL, but it's not nearly as good. I don't hate it, but I can't quite get into it, either.

I enjoy the show; however, it drags. I hope it will have another season, at least, but think (hope) they will have to put more life into the storylines.
