for example one welfare dependant generation breeds another welfare dependant generation and so on.

Am I seeing more and more people to lazy to work and would rather go on welfare than work or am i wrong and off on another tangent?

I have put forward the idea of drug testing people who are on welfare before they can have acess to welfare payments but what about any other idea?

Unfortunatley I think we live in a society that can not recover from such programs. The only way to stop the cycle is eliminate the program. That sounds great, but there are many people who do need temporary assistance. So unless the government decided to change procedures, make screening's more effecient, and properly punish those who affend there will always be welfare abuse. If we would choose to educate and mandate work forces then there would be no need for long term welfare usage.

Sounds like you guys watch too much Jerry Springer. I do not know anyone on welfare who has 5 baby fathers or who does not work. I receive food stamps. I have a job and a high school diploma. My rent is 654, my car note is 250 (there are no buses here), my car insurance is 80, my light bill is 100, my gas bill is 100, my phone bill is 45, childcare is 400. That comes up to about 1630 worth of bills a month. I make 1200 a month. You do the math. I do not get food stamps because I'm lazy. I bust my *** everyday and barely get to see my ONE CHILD BY ONE GUY. Taking people out for child support is not as easy as u think and u don't see the money as fast as u need. Years can go by without u seeing the money and all they do is put the guy in jail, u still don't see the money. First of all if the price of food wasn't so damn high and if these jobs paid according to the actual cost of living, there would be no reason for welfare! And what black person makes a decent salary that hasn't graduated from Harvard or something? Regular hard working citizens get tossed all the low paying bullshit jobs. The other 2 girls I know that get food stamps work also. I am a leasing agent, one is a teacher's aide, and one works at an Exxon. But we all work long hrs trying to get overtime as much as we can. They both have 2 kids and I have 1. The same people who call us lazy are the same people who won't pay us when we do good work. I'm up for a promotion and a raise and then I can stop my foodstamps. There are some who abuse the system, but I hate that people think that all minorities do.

We have to stop letting the welfare breed. This is the only way I see we can stop the cycle. The kids are not necessarily lazy they they have seen there welfare parents live this way so this is the only way they know how to live.
On the other hand if you where to drug test them 90% of them would test positive and then we would have starving people. We could donate money for the children and put them in homes to teach them a better life. As for the parents they have been stuck in the welfare rut for to long and changing them is pointless.

Get the Congress and Senate off lifetime salary and put them on a social security retirement like the rest of us and you will see some changes in how our social security and welfare system is run. We hear about cutting the social security benefits, raising the retirement age, etc to bail out the system, but our congress and senate just keep adding benefits for those who don't work or pay in. Remember this at election time.

Limit welfare to 6 month max lifetime allotment. Force people to work.

This excludes those who are physically unable to work. (This is small portion of welfare receivers. For example, 5 baby's by 5 different fathers, does not make unable you to work. It makes you stupid. Welfare is not for the stupid.)

We need to change the way society views personal responsibility before welfare will change.

If you really research welfare, most people on it are white, rural and on for a short time.
Cures: better childcare options so women can go to work, better education, men marrying the women they have children with, affordable housing, healthcare.

The welfare queen myth has been around for so long most people believe it.

Mandatory birth control, once on welfare no more children. I am not being judgmental at all, but I had to stop having children and keep their numbers to what I can afford to raise. Also limit what can be purchased with IBT cards, somewhat like the rations of WWII, only certain items can be used with these cards.

When they enforce capital punishments or start up chain gangs, to decrease expense of housing prisoners. When they stop mexicans from taking jobs from americans because they undercut their wages and when they make woman get off their duffs and get jobs and quit having babies! If women had to have an education to get on welfare it would slow it way down!!

No_Fat_Chicks:
Since Blacks only make up about, say 11% of the population, and whites claim they are the majority, there are more whites on welfare than blacks.
As far as Mexicans go....I'm not even sure how it is anymore....

Do any of you actually have statistics to back up your ignorant "facts"?

I'd like to see them. Thanks :0)

Rather than promoting streotypes of Welfare Queens, the poor and Crack Babies, it would be nice to have an intelligent debate about welfare and what needs to be about the poverty that plagues America. Afterall, debating based on lies and ignorance has never been a viable solution to anything.
