Deene Koontz is too mellow for me, Stephen King....not to crazy about. I do not like Vampire/wearwolves books....they are too fake. I want a book so scary that I can't sleep at night. Ghosts don't do anything for me. I don't want porn. I want a book that will scare the death out of me and one I can't put down. One that could possibly happen in real life? I'm an adult, so I'm not interested in goose bumps.
Ideas???

The Girl Next Door by Jack Ketchum This one was inspired by an actual case.. and is so detailed and so..horrific I couldn't put it down. It's probably the WORST treatment of a human I can imagine.. they made a movie of it, but it hasn't been widely released yet.. (I read the book years ago... I just stumbled across the movie site a few months ago)

According to one review on here this book is very hard to find.. (I lucked out I guess.. I found the hardcover, signed in a used/damaged book bin at at store for $2.00.. It's missing the dust cover), but.. it's worth keeping an eye out for.. I have copies of 3 other books by Ketchum, but have yet to read them.

Have you read the Shining by Stephen King, that one was very good. The book was better than the movie.

well you have to figure out what kind of horror you would like personally i love psychological stuff that makes you think rather then just ghost stories and stuff frankenstein by mary shelley is great, try the monk by mathew lewis, i think books that make you question humanity are great, and don't discredit all vampire stuff the historian by elizabeth kostova is great there isnt garlic and blood sucking its a good plot.
hope this helps :)

"Catch me a Killer" by Micki Pistorius - What makes this book scary is that it really happened, in some of the cases, right in my back yard! Do yourself a favor and read it. I can guarantee it!
