Here's a link to a list of places that train make-up artists including UCLA's program: http://www.workingactors.com/cgi-bin/page.cgi?g=Training%2FMAKE-UP_TRAINING%2F&d=1

One thing to keep in mind is that all the training in the world won't prepare you for the real world of being a make up artist. You will learn by doing. Once you go through your program, try to get jobs on late night cable or even network programs to get your feet wet and don't forget to include ethnic make up in your palette, you never know who you'll have to put make up on! The reason I suggest late night (and I mean LATE like when most people are sleeping) is because the producers are less likely to care if you do that great of a job since less people are watching. You can mess up and it won't be so terrible.

good luck!

UCLA's program is a good idea if you want movies, do you know what kind of make up? regular old make up or special effects and monster type? cause they have special training places for the special effects most are also in LA. Have you tried volunteering at community or even local professional theaters? Are you in a city that has an opera company or a ballet they also would be good place to try and volunteer, cause most of the time they have separate people doing the make up While they are a different mediums, it can help now and you can gain some experience.

I love this "Sally Girl" creme eyeshadow, the colors are light around my eyes and I can blend all the way to my ears if I wanted, down and up. This would look really good with dark blush and red lipstick.

Your best best would be to go to beauty school. A college degree is not necessary, unless you want to go. If you do, I'd suggest majoring in drama.
