The three basic things required to start an engine are; compression, fuel and ignition. Since you have a carburetor, try a little quick start while cranking.

Spray some starting fluid into the throttle then crank it,if start then check fuel delivery,or remove one spark plug see if fouled from flooded.HTH

are you getting fuel? turn on the key, you should hear it kick on 4 a few seconds. ignition module is 1 thing that goes out alot on early ford models. you can take it off and take it to auto zone to be tested. its mounted on the distributor, right under the cap
