usin the same 3 patients and ignoring the hormones, diuretics, explain the reason why the urine samples are they way they are. Why is the dark urine so smalll a volume, and what makes it dark. Why is the clear sample so full?

the urine is usually dark when its highly concentrated, usually these patients have kidney problems. to determine this you have to do chemical test for this urine to check for glucose, erythrocytes etc.the clear sample is full because it is the usual outcome of for normal pts. check for the specific gravity of the dark colored urine, it measures the kidneys ablity to dilute urine or concentrate urine the normal range of spgr would be 1.003-1.030.

I would also check to see when each was collected and under what conditions - urine that has concentrated overnight is going to be darker than samples taken during the day, although the volume should not be appreciably smaller. I would expect dehydrated patients to also produce smaller volumes of darker urine.
