I have seen 3 computers at my office, as well as my personal computer at home, that have a failed -5V lead on the power supply. I've been looking for information on the internet, but haven't found anything yet. Has anyone heard of any software or hardware issues that could be causing this failure?

Am not sure what kind of power supply you are referring to. BUT as per ATX 12V Power Supply Design Guide V 2.01, as of Jan 2002, -5V was removed from all power distribution tables. In April 2003, guidance for -5V rail was removed. And in June 2004, -5V reference was removed. In short, ALL current power supplies conforming to 12V ATX V1.3, 2.01, 2.2, etc. do not have a single -5V lead. Could you be referring to pre-2002 equipment?
