Don't you find the whole thing crazy - I mean they haven't even been charged with anything yet.

I've read somewhere that a millionaire businessman is paying some of their legal expenses, along with the £100,000 Richard Branson donated, so maybe the independant forensic tests come under that too.
If they truly are innocent, and believe they are being wrongly implicated by forensic tests, then it's pretty obvious why they feel the need to have more done independantly.
If they are guilty and want forensics re-done on the car, my guess is they didn't use it to transport Madeleine's body and know the forensics will show this. The other possibility is they would pay off the forensics team to find what they want them to, but that's a bit far-fetched.
Edit: This link shows who the Daily Mail say is funding them.

Edit 2: Doesn't anyone remember that it was decided ages ago that the McCanns defence expenses are NOT coming out of the Find Madeleine fund?

I don't know why YOU are worrying about it so much and stirring up trouble. You didn't put into the fund, so it isn't coming out of YOUR pocket is it. It just shows how smart you are when you don't even now that people ARE allowed to defend themselves. Talk about opening your mouth and putting your foot in it.
tgibbyso................. I agree with you 100%
Sir Richard Branson has been quoted as saying that he will pay for the McCann's legal fees. That would include any forensic test that need to be done on their behalf. It all comes as part and parcel of a defence. They are entitled to do this.
Kate M ................ Quite frankly who are you to tell anyone how to spend their own money. It is none of your business how the man spends his money.

There are too very rich men who are helping them.
Why do they think they need one? Becuase of all the fools who have played judge and jury and convicted them and sentenced them to a lilfe of misery.

Does it really matter??
The people who donated knew what it was going to be used for [unless they didn't read the T&C].If you didn't donate, don't worry. It's their child and their finances.Nothing to do with us at all.And yes,If I was suspected of murdering my daughter when I know I didn't,I would do everything to clear my name. The search can then be re-focused on Medeleine instead of the parents.
