I need to replace the fuel filter on my car. I have nobody to ask how to do it. I found it on the underside of my car and I have a new one, but before I take the old one off I don't know if there is anything I must do. What will happen when I take the old one off, will all the gas leak out, is there a way to stop it? I just dont know, any help would make my day brighter. Thanks

You will get some gas out. but if you park facing up a little hill then this will cause the gas to flow back to the tank. Take your gas cap off to release any pressure. Then put some gloves on. Try not to get too much gas on your skin, because it could burn you, If you do wash your hands or any other area. that comes in contact with gas.

Also. There are two rubber "O" rings on the ends of the steel lines that slide into the filter.
Be carefull not to lose them.

When you loosen the fuel lines, the the one on the tank side will slide back easier the the line toward the engine.

Also, pay attention to the little arrow on the filter that indicates which way the fuel flows through the filter.

First off you need the proper wrench to remove the lines.

What you need is called a line wrench -
Basically it looks like a boxed end with a spot cut out so it will fit over the line.

You will want a small drain pan there is gas in the line and the filter is full too.
