If she is alive, please urge her to seek professional help. If she has already committed the act, then no, of course not, there is no reason for you to think life is useless for you also.
One thing you can do is notice all the good things that happen around you - even to other people - and remind yourself that she was so depressed she couldn't notice those good things. But they are there! And you are there to see them, even if she can't.
If she had been able to work through therapy to find a level of happiness, she would be there with you. So, if you feel that same sort of depression or lack the will to live, please: learn from her tragedy and seek counseling. It is inexpensive (find a therapist with a sliding scale for their fees) and it can save a life.
If you did lose your friend, I'm so sorry. If she's still alive, help her right into the therapist's office - go with her if necessary and hold her hand through this tough time. God bless.

Get your friend help immediately if she hasn't already done it. Suicide isn't the answer to simple things that can be fixed.

Second-- yes you would have a reason. Everyone has a purpose in life even if you have no idea what it is yet. If you dived off a bridge with her, look at what you would be leaving behind. You'd leave your family and the rest of your friends behind, and what future you could have.

yes, if for no other reason, to tell others who may think about that what pain it gives to loved ones left behind. I won't use the name but one actress was about to kill herself when she thought about the pain that it would cause others and changed her mind. If you need help dealing with this, see a counselor or talk to someone near you about her.
as for your friend, if you have pictures of her, it may help you to go to memory-of.com and you can establish a memorial for her and that may help you get through this as well as anyone else who knew her and her parents.
I am sorry about your loss and life does get better even though it may not seem like it at the moment.

you need to live to be a reminder to everyone else of the kind of person she was . let her live on in you. she had problems she couldnt deal with, being her friend you know what they were. research these things and be a spokes person for her. get the issues out there in the open and try to help people find ways to deal with them. stop others from living through the pain she felt. you might not of been able to help her but make her proud of everything you do in life and be a mentor to others of what you lost and that there is someone to listen to them.

Yes there is. Your best friend may have had some problems that she couldn't talk about, but you can go on and make something of yourself...for both of you. Suicide hurts more people than it solves problems. Through your grief you may not be able to see whats out there, but you need to go on and finish the job you came here to do!
