how do check for correct alignment of the heading marker in the radar and scanner with the fore and aft line of the ship???

Line up your boat hull to point at a prominent headland or handy buoy. A target far away is better than a close one. You want a clear narrow target, dead ahead. Then see if the target shows under the heading flasher on the scope and reads zero on the relative bearing ring. If not, adjust according to the manufacturers instructions.
