i just got back from a 4-week-stay in South Africa.
when i go there, i never book any accommodation in advance.
when preparing my trip, i look on internet to see if accommodation is offered in the places i plan to go to. so that would be a first advice: get your place on the net. one possibility is http://www.capetown-direct.com/ but why not get a personal site?
once i get in SA, it's really the brown signs in the streets that help find a place, so make sure to get yours.
finally - but this may sound silly - pick a cute name for your place. i'm more attracted to place with a nice name ;-)
