Name Change - your advice?

Question

My name is Dindy 7. Dindy because it's a derivative of my mum's name Linda and 7 seven because I was born on the 7 september. Now I am sure most of you will agree its a pretty stupid name so I have decided to change my name by deed poll - but to what? I rather fancy something striking and novel - only stipulation is it can't rhyme with my surname for obvious reasons - surame is Witt. Thx in advance

Well, what appeals to YOU? My middle name is Delight--because this is what my significant other tells me I am to him and when I got my divorce I would not have had a middle name and I used to get tired (before I got married) of telling people that I did not have a middle initial. You either have to put down NMI (for no middle initial) or spend loads of time explaining, so I chose Delight for my middle name because I love my significant other and love the fact that I am his delight !, but also so that I would have a middle initial. When I was married I used my maiden name initial for my middle initial. Of course, now my initials are ddt!!! So be careful what you choose (and, no, you would not want Dim as your name!!!) and like what you choose as you will have to live with it and pay to have it changed. So far, I've had to have 61 different changes made--from credit cards and bank accounts, to library cards and video store rental cards!!! It is a pain and one that I will NEVER go through again!!! If I am ever stupid enough to remarry I will choose not to change my name.

Most of the time I only use "D" as my middle initial, but sometimes I have to tell somebody what it stands for, i.e., the judge when I had my name changed. All he did was raise his eyebrows and say "Delight?" so I explained to him WHY and he only smiled and then congratulated me using my full NEW name!!!

Good luck--but think about it long and hard because it's not a process you will want to repeat!
