You're treading on dangerous ground. It's not going to be a good year if you don't gauge yourself. People are tired of these serious questions....they're so deflating.

You are severely misinformed. The flat tax abolishes the current tax system where the government withholds a portion of your earnings as a means to pay your income tax. Do you realize that when you get a tax refund, the government isn't just "giving" money away? They are actually giving you back what you overpayed. I hate how everyone gets excited when they find out they are getting $700 back - I mean, that money was theirs to begin with, yet they were forced to lend it to the IRS interest-free, while they collect the interest off of money they borrowed from you.

The fair tax also eliminates those "evil unfair right-wing conspiracy Bush-hitler neocon tax-cuts" for the rich. Why then do many democrats hate the Fair Tax? That's right, because it is fair! Under this system, the top 1% will no longer bear 29% of the tax burden and the top 5% will no longer be paying 50% of all of the taxes collected in the U.S.. Liberals just hate that their constituents will ultimately have to kick in and contribute more for the roads, bridges, schools and social porgrams that they enjoy so much at the expense of those who are punished just because they are wealthy.

Instead, the Fair Tax will be consumer-based. Taxes will be paid on what each person USES. Details about how the tax applies to food and necessary items will all be hammered out, but before you start screaming about how this isn't fair, remember, who consumes more than the wealthy? So Liberals will at least find comfort in the fact that at least the illusion exists that successful people are getting screwed.

Hukabees plan is probably similar to the one Jim DeMint tried to go with a few years back , DeMint wanted a 28 cent federal tax to be paid on every purchase made , which it would eliminate the IRS , and the payroll deductions for taxes , many lower incomes would suffer though , because it would eliminate the child tax credit , and earned income credit , as well as the mortgage interest credit , so to fix that DeMint was going to not incude the federal tax on food , and clothing , and give a rebate to those who qualify for the child credits to recieve a check for $2500.00 every year until the child is an adult ....I have not heard of Huckabees plan yet , ...However I was behind DeMint all the way with his plan , because I do not buy stuff like CD's DVDs' new cars , boats etc...so the flat tax would not really affect me a whole lot...

Um...what? Do some research before you start asking stupid questions about a tax system that you don't understand. It's called the Fair Tax, and if you would take the time to read the book, you would most likely support it.

The flat tax would kick in after you put the air in your tire in order to curb inflation.
