As an Englishman who owns many major US based companies i feel i must ask this.
I feel it is utterly disgraceful that Americans are mocked and ridiculed on a daily basis(including this site) just because where they were born.
The Americans who are under my control are lovely hard working people and not like what we would expect at all.In fact i would say the Americans i own make ideal employees.
So i would like to "buck the trend"of American-bashing and start a new one=American-praising.

I'm American, and I am generally disappointed...make that, greatly disappointed, with the 1) political views of the majority as reflected in the current administration, 2) lack of understanding and willingness to learn about other cultures, 3) the general ignorance and backwards views of the majority.

I also think the stereotype of fat, lazy and stupid are to a large degree accurate.

Based on the current administration, and the American military and political actions (and lack thereof) around the world, you will be hard pressed to find supporters in your American-praising efforts when many Americans are themselves bashing our government.

Americans, as individuals, are amongst the most friendly, welcoming, creative, interesting people you can meet. They are also, let us not forget, the most productive workers in the world.

Unfortunately, a vocal minority of them are narrow-minded and stupid, and their political system throws up some pretty poor choices for them come election time.

I think we would do well to remember that not all Americans are Bush-loving rednecks or televangelist creationists. If they're all dumb, how come their culture dominates the world, and the UK in particular - and what does that say about us?

There are good and bad people in every country and I would agree with you that we should not tarnish everybody with the same brush. I have a few American friends and I find them very nice people. Speak as you find is my motto.I am a Brit and we also have our share of some very nasty people.

No, don't start praising us! I've gotten so many laughs with your American bashing. I hope this American praising doesn't last too long. It'll be boring.....=(

i do see a lot of American bashing on here, which as an American makes me angry. and thank you for wanting to start a chain of American Praising, but i can't help but be concerned with the wording of your question. You do not OWN the Americans that work for your companies, and should not refer to them as "under your control" rather they are your employee's and the reason your companies are able to thrive.

I have no real gripes with the Americans other than their protection of a capitalism that clearly does not work for the vast majority of American working class people.
