Sure the Irish standard was far from up to scratch, we looked very weak in attack and struggled in defence, Eddie should have turned out a new side against Georgia, we wouldnt have lost and i believe those players who were 2nd string would have done the job and piled on a few points, they had nothing to loose and only places to gain, it seemed like the only Irish team that played throughout (a very good team on paper) were saving themselves through the first games, nobody wanted to put there body on the line, they were all afraid of injuries.
what was the point of bringing Carney? or even Ferris or Quinlan i dont think they even pulled on a jersey in the whole time they were there. Playing Quinlan would have worked out perfectly if he had played, the man puts his body on the line all the time. He was the only player to come off the tour to Argentina better than the rest. But NO! Eddie picks his buddys like always. Sure the same 15 beat the crap out of England in Croke park that faced Georgia and look what happened, are this team too relax? Who is putting the fire under Rodge's *** now that Humphries is gone? we dont have anyone else to look too, Wallace is a fullback not an out half.
At the end of the day there are a few points to make, Ireland have become too predictable, Eddies strategies didnt work and the team didnt play well at all! Tell me who pulls on the Green of Ireland to run out and show off and shy away not to get injured, thousands of others would love to put on the jersey and gladly break a few bones doing so! The starting 15, and we all know who they are too relaxed knowing that there is no-one else that Eddie will even consider picking.....Ireland lack drive from a team perspective

I think in the last 6 nations the "Croke Park" factor masked a lot of problems. Being the first games a Croke Park and especially against England seemed to give Ireland an extra 50%. Another problem O'Sullivan not being the right coach, he doesn't seem to bring players through and just sticks to old and trusted, he didn't use the bench like all the other nations. O'Driscoll should not be the captain. Being a great player doesn't mean you'll be a great captain, see Lions Tour and RWC. As for Irelands Triple Crown victories(So called golden generation), they were up against poor sides who were in tatters. Golden generations should be winning Grand Slams!!
Ireland are a good side, and with managerial changes and some new blood they will be a dangerous side.

There might be some truth to the story. But history will tell you that the Irish team usually falls apart at major tournaments. They have never made it past the quarter final stage.
They perform like demons in the 6 nations and have got the triple crown for the past 2 years running, but when they face teams other than those in the 6 nations away from Landsdowne Road in the past and now Croke Park they just go to pieces. Sorry Ireland Im not trying to be an @rse or anti Irish. Thats just what happens.

very random. i thought Ireland could have gone quite a long way in this world cup but they never seemed to get going. They were in the toughest group, France and Argentina are both in semis but still Ireland never really competed.
Some of the blame would have to go to the manager, its his job to get the team ready for the world cup, but the players have to take some of the blame as well because they are the ones out there playing.

Here is what I heard (from a friend in Ireland, who supposedly knows someone etc etc so I cannot tell you its definitely true):
One player (who kicks a lot of points) has been seeing a married woman & another player (probably their best) ratted him out. The camp split between the two of them, team spirit went out of the window & they spent more time sniping at each other than they did training. Apparently, there have been quite a few simmering rivalries in the Irish camp for sometime but in the Six Nations they only have to live together for a few days at a time: when they had to be in each others faces for a month, they started to crack.
It could all be cobblers, but it wouldn't surprise me if something of that sort was behind it all.

Well, said Alberto, I heard the same thing.........do you know the same someone who knows the same someone that I know?
Also there is supposed to be a bit of row over the their national anthem, some of the squad do not believe that this song is appropriate for the whole of Ireland!
Also, a few of the guys in the squad have huge gambling debts and are blaming a certain player for this for enticing them to gamble in the first place!
Could be a load of bullsh1t though..........but all this has split the camp apart and there have been lots of arguing and ignoring each other by all accounts!
If it is true, then no wonder they fell apart in the RWC.............

Brian O'Driscoll was a great player but he has not developed as the game has changed. Peter Stringer, the wonderful scrumhalf starts to look indecisive and even slow compared with the new players.
When you have played a professional sport for 5 years, it is time to move on. Explore new challenges, just do something different. I don't mean "spend more time with the family" as politicians say, but tick the box, done rugby, now for something completely different.
