hi, I heard these expression in a new Stargate Altlantis episode:

McKay: ... Ok, I give you the "coles notes"
Sheppard: ... The what? oh, you mean the "cliff notes" ...

Can anybody tell me, what it means
and what is the difference?

best regards

Coles notes are the Canadian version of Cliff notes. Which makes sense since McKay is from Canada.

"Most Canadians are familiar with Coles Notes® (and Americans ask for their offshoot, Cliffs Notes® in the United States), those small ubiquitous texts which high school and university students often use while studying for a course. The very name of this notes' series has become an idiom for a simplified version of some complex book, instruction, or narrative. We often say, "just give me the Coles Notes version!" when we want someone to get to the simplest version."

They're like Cliff or Monarch notes but I've only ever seen them in Canada (where you get them at Cole's bookstore).

A highly abridged version of a popular book, with discussion of major themes, etc included. They're generally used be students in high school or college either to replace reading an assigned book or to supplement it.

If it were any other wrestler, Morrison, Cena, anyone~it's supposed to be veteran, not vintage. But Miz is the exception. Michael Cole is gay. Wrestlers like Jerry Lawler, the true veteran king, knows its supposed to be veteran not vintage, signifying something 'classic' or 'executed properly.' Any Michael Cole, don't say that's vintage Gabriel. Nobody'll believe that trust me.

Michael only quotes that line when Miz is doing the Closeline where he hangs in the 2nd rope. The same way he quotes that line when Undertaker leg drops an opponent who is hanging his head outside the ring.
