IF you are currently eligible for Sprint's handset upgrade program, you can use that rebate to switch to a Nextel handset.
That means that if you have owned you current Sprint handset for 12 months or more, you can get $75 instant rebate for a new phone (either Sprint or Nextel...)
If you have owned your Sprint handset for 22 months or more, you can apply a $150 instant rebate on any phone AND you are eligible for any mail-in rebate Sprint offers on a particular handset...
To switch technology-types (Nextel phones have their own proprietary signal...) you will have to submit a Nextel credit check, which should just be a technicality, since you already have an account with te company. In almost all cases, no additional deposit is required...

No because they are the same thing. Sprint bought Nextel so you would still be in the same network.
