Sweetie, it is not luck. It is a lot of things ! Your body gets ready for a potential baby every month, so the uterus develops kind of a bloody membrane inside its walls. Having a longer period just means that one person's body makes a thicker "padding" for the baby, and others a thinner one. Or even if they were the same, when the body sees there is no baby, all that blood needs to come out. If your period is shorter, it may mean just that your body empties itself out faster, thats why it's over in 2-3 days. Periods change throughout your life, so don't worry. I started out "lucky", like your friend, and now I have it for 5 days minimum ! Don't worry, it will change.

Kayde, that's a question that a Professional or you Mom, Aunt Older Sister etc might answer for you. I gave a star to Dayna who really knows what she is talking about . Read it carefully.

most peopl have long periods because they miss months (irreguler periods) so they just make up for the months they miss

this is probably related to their body types (short/tall), age, and geneticsb

you might want to talk to an adult (like your mom, sister) there might be medicines out there to help you (go through) this
