well regarding the names of our younger childen we did both the traditional & unusual approach.traditional as we kept with my husband's family tradition of choosing a 1st & 2nd name for our kids to keep up with their scottish tradition about having 2 names though instead of combining elder relatives or parents names we thought instead of something that doesnt resemble that of the relatives in any way but the ones that we had agreed upon & had some special stories behind it as well.(kyrel & leiah's names were done this way)

I like Modern Personally. Or traditional names that stand the test of time but are unusual. I had a very common name my whole life and it is still in the top ten (samantha) I hated it. I always knew at least two girls in every class with the same name and i was samantha L. every time the teacher called out my name
Unfortunately when i had my daughter i did not realize the popularity of her name (izabella) until after she was born, but next time im digging deep and i a making sure they are not in the top 100.

I think of normal names like, Michael, Jacob, Sean, Andrew, Kayla, Alyssa, Michelle and etc....
I think is ridiculous when people try to be too unique.
Like Nevaeh, wierd name. Or when they try to make the spelling unique and end up with Mychole or Michole instead of Michael and things like that.
I like traditional names and unusual too as long as the unusual name is okay and doesnt sound ridiculous.

Traditional for sure! If everyone else has "modern" names, how does that make them unusual??

I think its hard to tell with a babys name because its something your going to be hearing and saying the rest of your life you also have to think about the child because i had atleast one other samantha in my class and now its happening to my daughter Natalie, its really annoying but its up to you.

i like to go for a little more unsual, however not be ridicilous. what i mean by that is i want my children to have unique names, but not be made fun of because thier name is Apple ore Audio Science. they are going to be stuck w/ that name the rest of their life. i want it to identeify them, not blend in with the crowd. hope this helps!

Names of places is good if there is somewhere that that means something to you.Take The Bechams apparently they chose Brooklyn due to having sexual encounters there. I dont think they will tell him when he is older lol.
