I do the billing for 4 doctors and we do NOT charge for no showed appointments simply because we cannot charge insurance companies for this and if we charged our patients our aged accounts would be sky high!

Many places that do charge typically don't charge the full amount, maybe like a $25 fee or something.

You should feel obligated to the doctor. The doc reserved this time for you. They couldn't see anyone else. It's a loss of revenue... and more important a waste of time.

To wonder if it's "legal" for them to charge you implies no sense of personal responsibility. You need to rethink this.

Yes I'm afraid it is. Many don't if you just do this once but many do and are within their rights.

yes, most places require at least 24hrs notice
