I currently live in a quiet, conservative/republican run, middle to upper middle class suburb, 30 min from a major city, in a very nice apartment. Low taxes, good buisness community, very low crime rate. Due to a buisness move I will be forced to take (though not one I object to) I will need to move to Vegas soon.

Does Vegas have suburbs around it? Or near it and connected by major roads? Or is everything pretty much all part of the Vegas metroplex? I've NEVER been out there before.

I'd really like to find a town with similiar demographics to mine but I have no clue where to start, how to search information like that, or even if they exist with how Vegas and the surronding regions are set up.

I should note the Conservative is more important then the Republican, and the middle class to upper middle class area with apartments is more important then living a tiny ways out of the city.

But does anyone know a place fitting what I described? Or how to find one on my own?

How close by car are the nearby towns like Henderson and others? Basically, what towns are w/in a 30 min drive during moderate traffic of downtown?

Actually, you'd be surprised by how much of the metro area is NOT Las Vegas. The city proper only takes up the North-Northwestern part of the metro area we call the Valley. The two other cities (suburbs) are Henderson, and North Las Vegas. There are also towns like Spring Valley, Paradise, and Enterprise that aren't actual incorporated cities, so they're basically within Clark County.

Yeah $400 a month really isn't going to cut it, unless you can find some roommates to split the rent. There are cheaper apartments closer to the strip, but they aren't necessarily safe. I recommend you try looking for apartments or housing in the Summerlin, Henderson, Spring Valley, and Southwest area if you want a safe neighborhood. Summerlin and Henderson might be out of your price range, but there are many safe neighborhoods in Spring Valley and the Southwest area. As for the transportation, I'd advise you to get a car ASAP because the public bus transportation system is not very reliable and it can take awhile to get to where you want to go.

Vegas has become so sprawling and spread out that you can find pretty much any type of area you want. It's NOT all about the strip. 7-10,000 new residents show up each month. There are lots of choices.
