Primp? Do you mean trim the wick ? Carefully with scissors trim flat and even, and in use keep it to a length so that the flame is a "fishtail" shape without smoke.

Both 1 & 2 are valid suggestions. PRIME can be accomplished IF a pump exists; or you lower the wick into the resevoir without letting it go beyond the wheels that hold it.

Also the suggestion about TRIMMING is valid; as well as the height of the wick for fire. Kersosene does leave reidue as it burns; and can blacken the chimney.

use the little pump on the side, or just presoak the wick
