You forgot to put Bill Russell on the list.

He facilitated old Boston's fast break plays through his blocking and just his mere presence. That led to six championship rings in his hands. And him being a legacy in the NBA.

So I'll call it the Bill Russell Defensive Award. =)

Statistically speaking Kobe is nowhere to be found in the top 5. Here is the running in my opinion: 1st: Dwight Howard: 3 blocks a game and 14 rebounds a game, he's runnin' away with this one. 2nd: Chris Paul: 2.7 steals a game and that incredible 100+ game streak of getting at least one steal a game drew my attention to him. 3rd: LeBron James: Gets rebounds, gets steals, gets blocks, does everything, and he does this while guarding the opponent's best player 9 out of 10 times. He has improved his perimeter defense a ton this year and is favored to win MVP because of this, and the success of his team this year. 4th: Marcus Camby: As always we have to include him, he is getting a very quiet 12 rebounds a game, 3 blocks, and a steal. 5th: Kevin Garnett: Leads the best defense in the NBA and gets a well balanced 1.2 steals and blocks a game along with a handful of rebounds. Kobe gets half a block, a steal and a half, and 4 rebounds a game on the defensive end, no way is he in the top 10 much less the top 5.

Well i would have to go with Pippen coz according to me defense with some offense is always better then only defense like Rodman but Pippen not only defended amazingly but countered and scored at will so he makes a perfect defense.

Personally I like the name "NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award" as I don't believe in naming a lot of things after people.
