I went to Glossop the other day and to my surprise in order to use the pay and display car park, drivers had to enter their car registration number to get a ticket. I really didn't like that and drove off to find another spot without such silly regulation. I wonder if anyone else disaproves at such level of control? Or perhaps you don't see a problem at all with this...? Your thoughts and feelings on this subject please.

Yes I object. 1) In wet weather, I can't remember reg.no of car I'm driving and have to walk back to car in rain to check it. What a treat. 2) If I leave the carpark early and want to pass my ticket with loads of time left on it to another motorist. 3) All our local carparks are about to become pay & display to 'stop commuters parking all day' including carparks nowhere near stations. Daylight robbery I call it and so do most people in the borough - but we're still getting it.

I don't have a problem for two reasons:

1. You are usually only required to enter a partial reg, like numbers.

2. The terms and conditions of many car parks state "tickets non-transferable".

If you disagree, you did the right thing by taking your business elsewhere.

Don't see a problem and don't think its silly. I don't see any element of control whatsoever. Just means people have to pay for their parking. Are you always willing to inconvenience yourself to such a degree! After all, you didn't even get to make a protest and the only person who suffered was you.

Don't see a problem with it, its just to stop people passing the ticket to someone else as they leave the carpark.

Most hospitals have these.

Its not like they are network connected to big brother.

Car thieves use car park tickets to steal cars, they take an old banger in ,get a ticket for it ,then nick a nice bmw or suchlike and drive out using the ticket they got for the old banger. This method of thieving motors has been used successfully for a long time.SO,WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM WITH THE CAR PARKS TRYING TO UP YOUR VEHICLE PROTECTION.??

I fully agree with your argument, but personally I would have just typed in the information.

The days of freedom and "an English man's home is his castle" have long gone.

Just imagine the man at the controls knowing your address from his computer and informing his mates that no one is home. It happens!

Looks like they are trying to stop people giving each other tickets when they have time left over (as I often do). I agree, its a complete farce.
