The actual college and system of having electoral college electors cast the vote--no-simply because that part of it is a quaint tradition left over from earlier days. I'm not at all in favor of eliminating the representative aspect of the college.
Small or sparsely populated states would have their votes overwhelmed by the few large heavily populated states. Because those small states have electoral votes-their voice is heard. We elect a certain number of representatives based on the population of a state, this gives that state a voice in proportion to the number of people there. If one does not wish to hear the voices of the states in the presidental election then by the same logic perhaps the House of Representatives should only be allowed two congressmen per state. We wouldn't give up our popular representation at the congressional level, why would we wish to do so at the presidental level. Clearly--the voices of some of the less populated states were heard--those few electoral votes here and there were in part responsible for the outcome of 2004 and 2008. Clearly if those less populated states have such an impact it would be stupid of them to agree to the dissolution of the college.

In the US, we have one man one vote. I do not favor eliminating the electoral college. It has served us well for over 220 years.

The electoral college thankyou very much, and don't hold your breath, it will never change. The people of this country will not allow New York, Los Angeles, Chicago & Miami to elect every president, sorry, not gonna happen.

Most of the democratic counties are having one man one vote system.
Abolishing electoral college is good. But that will eleminate small states and their role in the Govt.

If you do that, then the 10 biggest states will get to choose the president and the small states will have no say in it. The candidates could campaign in those 10 states and ignore the rest and still win the election.

The electoral college is in the Constitution, so you would have to amend it. Good luck with that. One thing people don't realize is that we are not a democracy, we are a constitutional republic.

One man, one vote will determine the real winner because it is the voice of the majority of the people.

I agree with Jack---only citizens, BORN HERE, that speak English should be able to put their 2 cents in on how this country should be ran.
