Exactly. They think their feelings are wrong and are trying to "turn" straight.

Only one person has answered this sensibly so far! This just shows peoples ignorance and idiocy when it comes to a question like this that they think can be answered so "humorously".

Maybe some religious people who feel bad about being gay try to find solace or forgiveness in religion. But I feel sorry for people like this who are brainwashed by religion and people's ideas into hating themselves without cause - there is nothing wrong with being gay. I don't think there is "so many gay men in churches", I don't really know how you would think that. If I asked you, why are there so many straight people in churches? it wouldn't make any sense either.

You can be gay and a Christian. Just because you are gay does not mean you have to turn your back on your God. The church sometimes has some wacked views but i do not let that interfere with my relationship with God. So ya alot of gay people still go to church and stuff.

I can't answer for the gay men, but I can answer for myself. I am a Christian lesbian. I go to church because I have a relationship with the Lord, and I go to worship Him with other believers. I go to church because I know it was the Lord who saved me. I go to church because it's my source of strength that gets me through the week. I go to church so I can understand and grow in the knowledge of my Lord Jesus Christ. I go to church because I realize that the Lord loves me for who I am, and I want Him to know that I love Him, too. These are just some of the reasons I go to church.

They want to be accepted anyway for their actions - they can still believe in G-d. They may feel insecure as to the verse in the bible they feel (or many religion feels) applies to them and want to do something to allay their fears at being deemed unworthy. A child who does something wrong against a parent may still need their parent's love and approval.

Only when they are in fundie churches. otherwise, gay men at church are there to worship God, have fellowship with Christians, and to pray for people like you who think Jesus died to make you Judge.
