why is the "Independent Groups Design" better than the "Repeated Measures" design or "Matched Participants" design?

or what are some differences that sets the "independent groups design" apart from the other two?

It's not necessarily better; it depends on your hypothesis. I'm trying to figure out why you are asking this question -- are you a grad student? You could ask this question of your committee chair or another professor.
