If it's tangent to the y-axis, then that means you can draw a straight line from the tangent point to the center of the circle. If the center is at (4, -8), then it has to touch the axis at (0,-8). So the radius is 4.

Now that you know the radius and the center point, use the general formula I showed you in the last problem, to write the equation.

(X-H)^2 + (Y-K)^2=r^2

If it is tangent to the y-axis, that means that at least one of the x coordinates is 0, and the distance from the center is the radius, or 4. So (x - 4)^2 + (y + 8)^2 = 16.

(x - 4)² + (y + 8)² = 4²
(x - 4)² + (y + 8)² = 16
Could be expressed as:-
x² - 8x + 16 + y² + 16y + 64 = 16
x² + y² - 8x + 16y + 48 = 0
