Hang in there love, this too shall pass.
I would walk my sons all night, with them laying across my arm while I patted their back. The motion soothed them and the pressure on their tummies would relieve any discomfort from gas.
Congratulations by the way :o)

bless your heart. Been there, done that. New babies and even babies several months old can do that from time to time, some daily. Try Mylicon gas drops for infants at each feeding. If weather permits where you live take her outside to a porch swing or a rocking chair while you hold her and sing. There's something about being outside that they love. Some people drive around in the car with baby in the car seat for a break [if it works for baby]. Sounds funny but if it works do it! Also swaddling is a great help. Go to Dr. Sears natural cures for other ideas. The first 3 months of infancy is like a long blur for many moms, then it eases up.

Just a word to the wise about nursing your baby for as long as he/she wants. I did this out of desperation when my little one was about the same age. Because your breasts aren't good at regulating the milk, you are going to be dealing with enormous, sore, full breasts the next day with a disinterested baby if you nurse until he/she is settled. Unfortunately, if there's nothing medically wrong with your baby, then it's just a matter of being patient and going through all the steps you've probably read a thousands times.

I know how frustrating it can be. I've got a 5 and half month old that just learned to flip over and now can not settle herself. I'm sorry to say, that most times you just have to live through it.

First make sure she is not running a fever...infants less than two months old that run fever more than 100.2 rectally should go to the nearest emergency room immediately to make sure they do not have a life threatening infection. If not fever, then most likely she is colicky and being held against your stomach in an upright position seems to help. The warmth of your body next to hers helps sooth the tummy. Also at 4 days old she shouldn't be eating large quantities, just 1/2 ounce at a time, make sure you are frequently burping her as well. Call your doctor if nothing works and more than likely they will want to see her to rule out anything serious. Better to be safe than sorry.

if you've changed her diaper, fed her and burped her really good (this is really important because a gas bubble can be really painful), than just hold her and cry a little if you get really tired. Pass her on to somebody else to rock maybe. But this is totally normal. I pretty much was able to get little to no sleep for the first 2-3 weeks of my babies life. Ask for help and hang in there. your angel will settle in. When you take your baby to their first pediatrician appt, which should be about a week after birth, than bring it up if your baby is still crying all night. but also consider this. is the baby sleeping nonstop all day? if so, sleep when the baby is and let other people help you. GL and congratulations!

honey get your midwife out and call your doctor. have you checked all causes for the crying and have you been feeding baby when hungry and not just according to the hourly thing? hot or cold? nappy rash? stools/bowel movement ok?
im sure you've checked all these so you need to call a doctor and even if you are fobbed off at first insist they see her and perhaps do some tests to make sure shes ok. good luck and plz let me know how u go on if u can!

Mine was the same, she may have colic, you would have to ask your HV to see what she can take but i would tru anti colic bottles first before giving a newborn any medicins, i cant remember for a newborn. also make sure the bottle are not too hot, sounds silly but i used to just feel the bottle and it seemed fine, i didnt relise it was actually alot hotter inside the bottle and it was too hot which gave her tummy ache

Take your baby to see the doctor. Let the doctor determine if the baby is crying just to cry, or if something is wrong. It will ease your mind. The both of you will get through this stage, be patient, it will pass.

first of all stay calm, your baby can tell when your stressed. then try lying her on your chest ( belly to belly) with a binkie. that way you both can relax and get a little bit of rest. dont be afraid of hurting her this way, i have had to do this with both of my babies. and now thay sleep all night.
