One of the biggest changes in our country was the change from a rural to an urban society. In a well thought-out essay, discuss why families began moving from the farms to the cities. What impact do you think this change had on family life in the Unites States?

With mechanization of farms less labor was needed to produce, so surplus labor went to cities to work in industry.
Children were helpers on the farm by the time they were 12 or less, but in the city the were of little use in supporting the family. Because of the financial burden people began having fewer children.
