on the farm in the midle of the night, it is pitch dark, the wind is blowing but i need to use the toilet and the Long John is outside - so it is me, outside in the dark, the wind and a candle that just won't stay lit - i did not think it was funny then but now remembering it it is precious

I used to hate going shopping with my mom or grandmother, now I realize how special those moments were and I miss a lot of those things. Fortunately we are going home to SA for two months in 6weeks' time so I will make sure to love every single moment spent with the two most special ladies in my life.

There is something SO scary about the wind at night. When we were mountain climbing, I would rather stay put in my sleeping bag and wait till it got lighter to do my business. I was always afraid that a leopard would come pounding out of the bush and attack me. And in the daylight everything was so friendly and beautiful again.

C.P. have a good time in SA. Wow, 2 months, you are so lucky, and in the summertime too.

I used to hate the oats porridge for breakfast, getting up at 2am to go fishing with my dad and having to use paraffin lights on my grandparent's farm house in the Cape. Now, I wish I could go back and re-live all those times once again.

The last time I had THAT experience I was 6 years old. At least we had a flashlight. My mom had to take me and my little sister to the potty.

It was in 1947.
