I am 33 and when i was a kid in the 80 and early 90's televison did not broadcast gay relationships. They just started saying cuss words at that time. Do you think our kids are looking at this and forming the impression that an opposite sex relationship is optional and not the standard anymore. Do you think this could be detrimental to our kids to think that they can choose to date a boy or a girl because it is so accepted in this Western Society.

Homosexuality is a birth defect, similar to trans genders. If your child is gay, he was born that way.

But if you still think its the TV, do your job as a parent and supervise your child's activities. Don't try to hold others responsible for raising your children.

No, many children are born into gay families, and being gay is not a choice. Many children already know about gays/lesbians and many are raised in these types of families. I believe we should learn to talk about this to our children, so they won't grow up to discriminate. Children understand much more than we know, and they wonder about these things just as much as we do. We shouldn't be afraid for them to see gay relationships. We don't have to be afraid that they will turn out gay, (as I said it's not a choice) because this is not what happens... instead we will raise children who are open minded and not hateful against anyone. Even if you don't believe in this lifestyle, I don't believe you should hide it from children, because it's everywhere, and it's better to learn these things from their parents than to get the wrong ideas and stereotypes from others..

As someone else stated, if you talking about sex scenes, then yes I do think there should be some restrictions on sex scenes between gays, lesbians and heterosexuals, when it comes to children.. As for adults... if you don't like it ... turn the channel..

Every relationship is optional. No, gay scenes shouldn't be prohibited from movies and television, and I have seen no evidence that gay scenes are any more damaging to children's minds than straight scenes. Heterosexuality is the norm. It doesn't matter what children see. They are going to be whatever they're going to be. There are plenty of other places where they'll witness gay relationships, so they'll know there are plenty of gay people whether they watch T.V. or not. Television and movies have nothing to do with it. It is up to parents to regulate what their children watch. Let them do their job.

It depends on what you mean by "scenes". I definitely do not think they should be showing sexual relations on television, for example. But depending on the nature of the show, it may be educational to talk about gay people. I agree with the previous answerer that parents should help their children choose media appropriately and help them discuss shows so that they are not confused about values.

No, I don't think there should be censorship. Maybe you would prefer to live in Iran, where there is no homosexuality.

It is detrimental for a gay person to feel like they need to act straight to avoid persecution. Watching gay relationships does NOT make me question my heterosexuality, but perhaps you are not so confident?

Personally I would support that however that would be intolerant and politically incorrect. I don't mind shows or movies with homosexuals however I don't think love or kissing scenes should be on public televison im fine with it on certain cable channels where you can block ratings and channels so that kids can't see it.

I think our kids will date whoever they want to date reguardless of what is shown on tv. Will it make you love your children any less if they did enter a same sex relationship? If so, then I guess unconditional love is something you've never heard of.

There should be a gay network that broadcasts gay shows. All other stations would not have gay scenes.
